Our Story and Values

Colin Sanders, founder, loves projects, loves working with his hands and loves helping people. He spent much of his childhood following his grandpa who was an okie farmer. It was grandpa Dick who taught him the importance of fixing what you’ve got and taking care of your things. He absorbed this resourcefulness and Do-It-Yourself ethic as a young man, and struck out to learn enough about a wide enough variety of things that he’d hardly ever have to hire someone else. As it happens, this skillset and knowledge base lends itself well to a career as a handyman. He loves leaving houses much better than he found them, and takes pride in having a positive impact on people’s day to day lives in their homes.

Sanders Handyman Services started out informally in the San Francisco bay area. Friends and neighbors had issues in their homes and the going rates for contractors were sky high. His neighbors needed help and they simply couldn’t afford those rates. Colin was working full time in the structural pest control industry, and would help out neighbors whenever possible on the side. People liked his work, and told their friends and neighbors and soon there was more work that he had time for. His clients included commercial warehouses, families with a single home, apartment buildings, and occasionally retail stores.

In April of 2020, Colin moved out to Tuolumne county, and bought an off-grid property deep in the woods outside of Twain Harte. Some skilled friends have followed him out here and work together on larger jobs where extra hands are necessary.
